AI Agent Readiness Scoring Methodology
This framework turns production-readiness questions into a transparent directional score. It is designed to improve scoping conversations—not to certify an organization or predict implementation success.
The six dimensions
Workflow
A defined trigger, outcome, owner, exceptions, and recovery path.
Value
A measurable baseline and business outcome for the proposed use case.
Data
Approved sources, accountable owners, freshness, and conflict handling.
Permissions
Least-privilege access and application-level validation for actions.
Controls
Human approvals, safe stops, deduplication, and failure containment.
Operations
Evaluations, monitoring, alerts, runbooks, cost, and outcome ownership.
Scoring formula
The assessment contains two questions per dimension. Each answer receives 0 points for “Not in place,” 1 point for “Partly in place,” or 2 points for “In place.” The total earned points are divided by the 24 available points and converted to a 0–100 score. All dimensions are equally weighted in version 1.0.
| Score | Readiness stage | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 0–39 | Foundation required | Define the workflow and its operating contract first. |
| 40–69 | Pilot-ready with controls | A pilot may be possible after priority control gaps close. |
| 70–84 | Ready for a bounded production pilot | Most foundations exist; validate the weakest dimensions. |
| 85–100 | Ready to scale carefully | The foundation is strong; evidence should govern expansion. |
Benchmark policy
OfRoot does not yet publish an industry benchmark from assessment responses. The tool currently calculates an individual directional score in the visitor’s browser and does not store answers. We will only publish aggregate findings after adding informed opt-in, a documented privacy approach, enough eligible responses to reduce re-identification risk, and clear sample and limitation disclosures. No fabricated or inferred benchmark data will be presented as research.
Limitations and review
- Self-reported answers may be optimistic, incomplete, or based on different interpretations.
- Equal weighting does not reflect every organization’s risk, regulation, scale, or workflow impact.
- A high score does not replace security, legal, privacy, compliance, architecture, or vendor review.
- The framework will be versioned when questions, thresholds, weights, or evidence requirements change.
